More Hawaii Layouts

The pictures that we took at Oheo Gulch and our hike up the Pipiwai Trail to Waimoku Falls are some of my favorite ever.  CSI's Case File 75 as inspiration for this layout:

For this next layout, I used pictures from the rest of our Road to Hana adventure.  The layout on the left is inspired by a sketch from Memorable Seasons, and the layout on the right is based off of the Scrap-a-doodle-doo June sketch.

Last but not least, here is a card that I created based off of a sketch from Scrapbook Express:

Tell Your Story

I just got our Hawaii pictures printed and couldn't wait to dive in and scrap them!  Teresa Collins' Tell Your Story line has beautiful coral and turquoise colors that compliment the pictures so well.  I created this first layout based off of the Hens' Den, Chic Sketch 2 which allowed me to include a lot of our beautiful Black Rock snorkeling pictures.

We also had a bunch of pictures from our surfing lessons, and PageMaps' 7th Anniversary sketch was perfect for it.

I also created this two-page layout of our snorkeling trip at Honolua Bay.  The layout on the left is based off of My Creative Sketches' May sketch, and the layout on the right is for CSI's Case file 73.

Jesse and I are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary today.  [Insert lovey/mushy/sweet comments here].  Love you babe!

Wolfpack

Jesse's soccer team, aptly named Wolfpack (they are a rowdy bunch!), finished their indoor and outdoor soccer seasons.  They took a group picture this year, which is cool, and I also captured a couple candid shots of one of their games.  Enjoy!

Final Christmas Layouts

I had a chance to do a little more scrapbooking this week with Teresa Collins' Christmas Cottage.  I made my final 2012 two-page Christmas layout using sketches from Page Maps and Paper Secrets.

I also finished this layout.  I created it earlier, but realized it needed a little umph.  Here is the new and improved version!

*Heart* Family

Jesse is heading over to Indiana this weekend  to see his dad.  We've been thinking about them a lot lately and love them very much.  Here are a couple pictures from a short impromptu trip that they took not too long ago.

We went up the tram (which they had never done before) and took a trip to the Crossroads Motel because they are Breaking Bad fans!

NSD 2013

Well it's National Scrapbooking Day again (you celebrated . . . right?) and I spent most of my day working on some projects and attending a bunch of online crops.  I was able to create a couple layouts and cards and wanted to share them with you.  Here are two Christmas layouts that I made using Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage line:

And here are some Mother's Day cards (moms -- don't look!)  This first one is a play on Mother's Day and May Day using My Mind's Eye papers and embellishments.

I played with ombre with these next two cards:

Waterfalls, Bamboo, and Sailing

We spent our last full day in Maui on the Road to Hana.  Jesse had fun driving the car up the winding  cliffside (driving back after dark was another story!)  Our first stop was at Upper Waikani Falls -- the first waterfall we got to see up close on our journey.

We were also able to explore the expansive Wai'anapanapa State Park.  We started with spelunking.  We jumped into the very cold water and started to swim.  At the back of one of the caves, there was a narrow passageway (the dark spot behind me) which we went through with some locals guiding us.  We climbed up some rocks (in the dark) slid through a narrow hole in the ground to some more water below (again, in the dark), and then scaled the rocky wall on the backside to reach a hole in the back of the cave that led back outside on the cliff (that we had to climb down)!  Such an unexpected adventure!

Our next stop was at the black sand beach, which was really quite cool looking.

Then we headed over to another blowhole which, again, failed to blow!  (Apparently the tide was low).  We did get to see some more beautiful coastline though.

A little further down the road, we stopped at Wailua Falls.

The highlight of the Road to Hana is Oheo Gulch and the Pipiwai Trail to Waimoku Falls.  Just past another banyan tree was the first of the many waterfalls and pools that make up Oheo Gulch.  We hiked up behind the second set of waterfalls and then jumped into the pool.  It was magical!

After our dip, we started on the four-mile Pipiwai Trail, much of which was through a gorgeous and expansive bamboo forest!

The Pipiwai Trail ends at Waimoku Falls, the most stunning waterfall I have ever seen!  We were just surrounded by incredible natural beauty.

Our final morning was spent sailing.  We got sailing lessons from Captain Gene, and while I had much more to learn than Jesse, we managed to have a lot of fun.  After hours of sailing, we jumped off the back of the boat for a dip (we couldn't believe how blue the water was there, and it would have been relaxing if I could get rid of my unwarranted fear of being shark bait -- have you seen Open Water?)

Before heading home on our long and painful flight, we were able to relax at a little beach park and say goodbye to this incredible place.
